VYS is doing noble job

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily I would like mention some good initiative being shouldered by some new generation youth of Arunachal Pradesh. Few days ago I got a phone call from team of Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (VYS) which these days are getting limelight due to its voluntarily blood donation initiative. It was the founder Chairman Ramesh Jeke (I know him since many years. He is 20-25 yrs old youth) from the opposite side. He asked me if I would like to help a girl belonging from Seppa as she require A+ blood which I am too. I agreed and in the next day I reached General Hospital Naharlagun where the girl was admitted. After the donation I asked chairman VYS why he asked me if he and his team were able to manage the same from the person belonging from the sufferer’s district. Then he replied in such a way that I got inspired. He said that Arunachal is a state with numerous tribe, it’s like a mini India. And just like different utensil make sounds in legacy of its design and numerousness, the various tribe of our state keep some indifferences. Being a voluntarily blood donating team, availing required person for blood donation will keep on going and till now in its two years VYS has managed donors for more than 300 patients covering nearly every district of Arunachal and also help patients from Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya which is a good thing but it will be more better if they could make people realize that through dress, language and system we are different but our blood and its color are same. We all are human being and so we should live as one/united. And for that reason they usually make people donate blood in inter tribal way. Later the relative of the girl offered some cash to us as a token of thanks. I refused and the Mr. Ramesh denying the offer said to the relative that the best token of thanks for them will be then when he (the relative) will do like I have did for others in the future. Then matter of financial position and operation of the VYS struck my mind so I asked how they are managing their group. Then he replied that they are managing the group from their own pocket money. The majority members of VYS are either student or unemployed but he further added that when any member of group will get employed in the future then they will finance it and then he laughed. It was amazing reply for me that when all people especially youths are busy bending their fingers to get money here is a team who are rather investing even their pocket money given by their parents. While we were on the move, one girl stopped us on way and asked whether it is true that there is a free blood donating group like VYS. Actually she has an Uncle who is ill for long time and there is need of blood. Then the Chairman enquired details. Then he explained the reason of questioning stating that VYS don’t manage blood donor for those who can easily manage the same from their relative or by any other source. The initiative that the VYS is doing is only for the needy people who are unable to manage the required blood or is in urgent. He further explained the girl that she or anyone can join VYS any time and all should join for a better future. When I was leaving then Mr. Ramesh informed me that on 13th July’13 there will be a blood donation camp in RKMH Itanagar and for that I should inform my friend and relative to come forward.

Such is the initiative of these youths of VYS. I salute all the members of VYS for their selfless service for humanity. In this age where there is more fame of negativity in the mind of young generation there they are giving light like the stars shining in the sky piercing the darkness. We should appreciate and encourage such Group/Team which is a role model for our new generation. And all should come forward on the blood donation camp as mentioned above.

Issues that need to be addressed

Dear Editor,

Through your daily column, I would like to add little light on the yesterday's interesting lines on the reader's forum by RITZZ MUGLI who shared with us a coarse of delivery case of his lovely POTHOLE UNGA(baby) successfully by the shake of horrible monster state capital road. Fortunately they overcome it. But in reverse cases, who will take responsible. We are asking state govt. and concerned department, are they ready to take responsible? We are not demanding hi-fi road but at least ensure there is a proper road. They must work for the public security. Everyday lots of school children get injured after being struck with metallic parts of the vehicles due to jerking. It’s all happening due to bad road condition. Secondly, I would like to thank our honourable former MP Kiren Rijiju for highlighting the causes of pending development of state even though we have abundant availability of natural resources and peer educated young generation. We often heard the crores of amount transacting between state government and companies for the hydropower projects on MOU signing. Results we found only controversy. Dream of ''POWERHOUSE STATE'' remains dream only. Potential of hydro energy is flowing worthlessly every second. We should not interrupt dam projects on the ground of more compensation and the influences of outsider's. Thirdly the irresponsible act of NEEPCO authority against applicant Nabam Nania by delaying his call letter without any reason indicates that favourism is going on. Most of the selected candidates are from Assam. Why their letters were not delayed. So the NEEPCO has no systematic norms of opportunities. I request state government to disclose the exact employment reservation for local citizen as per the MOUs signed with companies working here. It is useless if we don’t have the right to benefit of our own land.

Yours

New forum to boost sustainable  development efforts

The General Assembly has established a new high-level political forum, which will replace the United Nations Commission on sustainable development, to boost efforts to tackle global economic, social and environmental challenges.

In a resolution adopted by consensus, the 193-member Assembly emphasized the need for an improved and more effective institutional framework for sustainable development, and decided that the Forum should provide "a dynamic platform for regular dialogue and for stocktaking and agenda-setting to advance that process."

The Forum will convene annually at the ministerial level under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and it will, every four years, bring together heads of State to provide added momentum for sustainable development. Its first meeting will be held in September, during the Assembly's forthcoming 68th session.

The new body is tasked with providing political leadership, guidance and recommendations for sustainable development; reviewing progress in the implementation of related commitments; and enhancing integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development - economic, social and environmental.

The Forum will replace the Commission on Sustainable Development, which was formed after the 1992 Earth Summit and helped to generate action on a range of issues that led to international agreements or treaties. Governments and civil society actors, however, came to share a belief in recent years that a higher-profile body was needed to guide sustainable development towards 'the future we want.'
